Can I use STEM OPT twice?
A student may participate twice in the STEM OPT extension over the course of their academic career. Students may not apply for STEM OPT extensions during the 60-day grace period following an initial (usually 12-month) period of post-completion OPT.
Is STEM OPT eligible for 180 day extension?
If you file your STEM OPT extension application on time and your OPT period expires while your extension application is pending, we will automatically extend your employment authorization for 180 days.

Normally, if your OPT/STEM OPT Extension is rejected, you must file a completely new application withUSCIS. If the application is rejected after your filing deadline (the end of the 60-day grace period for OPT; end of the OPT EAD for STEM OPT) refiling would normally be denied.

STEM Degree : If your degree falls under STEM Category and you have not used your 24 month STEM OPT extension for your first degree either Masters or Bachelors level, then you may be eligible to use that 24 months OPT extension. You will need to speak to DSO on this and get this clarified.

The exception to the 12 month OPT limit is for individuals with STEM degrees. Students in STEM fields are eligible for a 24 month OPT extension that can be used at either the Bachelors or Masters level. Crucially, this extension may be obtained even if your second Master’s degree is not in a STEM field, as long your first Masters was.
Can I apply for opt twice for my master’s degree?
