What is eSIM and how it works?

An eSIM is a SIM card that is embedded in a mobile device and can connect you to any operator offering eSIM services. The eSIM works the same way as a traditional SIM card, but you don’t need a physical SIM card to use it. More and more smartphones, tablets and laptops are equipped with an eSIM card.

How is eSIM activated?

For Android

  1. Open Settings, and tap on Connections.
  2. Now open Sim Card Manager and tap on Add Mobile Plan.
  3. After this select the Add Using QR Code option.
  4. Now you have to scan the QR code that you got on your mail and follow other instructions.
  5. After scanning, tap on Add which will add the eSIM to your device.

Does eSIM cost extra?

There are no fees to activate an iPhone with an eSIM. To activate your iPhone eSIM on another wireless provider or manage eSIM settings, see eSIM settings: Apple iPhone on iOS 14.

Does eSIM reduce battery?

It doesn’t really matter if it’s dual sim. If you’re in poor network zone then your phone will burn through battery faster. With dual sim, it just increases the chances because the phone wants to stay connected to 2 networks always. This isn’t true at all.

How to activate eSIM?

Go to Settings,then Cellular.

  • Select Add a plan,and the Camera app will open.
  • Point your camera at the QR activation code on your eSIM card until you see a message that says Installing cellular plan.
