In order to repair a damage in your cork, fill a hole or crack, use a neutral color wood fill and apply with a putty knife. Allow to fully dry and lightly sand. We often recommend a clear wood sealer be applied to the cork surface.

Spray the back of the wallpaper with the adhesive. Place the first strip down on the cork board, making sure you’ve placed it evenly. Use a wallpaper smoothing stool to smooth any wrinkles or air bubbles. Once the paper is trimmed, lay it face-up on the cork board as you would to apply it.

To repair thin corkboard sheeting that has pulled away from its backing board, apply lines of glue to either the cork or the backing material, spreading the glue thin with your finger or a foam brush. Wood glues also work well for cork.

Because cork is porous, it can soak up a fair amount of paint. Be prepared to apply more than one coat if you want an appearance of even color. For an even, matte color, spray paint is your best and quickest option. Work outside, and use a drop cloth or newspaper beneath the board to protect the surrounding areas.
