Can prisoners access your email?

People in prison can receive email and send and receive letters. They don’t have access to the internet so they won’t be able to reply to your emails.

Can inmates see your email on JPay?

Is JPay monitored?

Yes. All electronic messages are subject to monitoring. Electronic messages may not jeopardize the public or the safety, security, or orderly operation of the correctional facility. All messages are screened for words or phrases which may represent a risk to the security of the facility or the safety of the public.

How long does it take to receive an email from email a prisoner?

How do inmates get JPAY emails?

Electronic emails are received by the inmate/offender via a kiosk for those facilities that have inmate/offender kiosks. The inmate/offender will reply to you using the kiosk without the need to print or scan any document. In most states with inmate/offender kiosks, you can also include a pre-paid reply.

Can an inmate block on JPay?

MDOC staff can block a prisoner from sending electronic messages if the prisoner sends electronic messages that violate MDOC policy. 5. Notice of a block will be sent to the prisoner within a reasonable time after the block is placed.

Can you email a prisoner directly?

You cannot email prisoners directly, but you can use a service called Email a Prisoner. If you send a message this way, it’ll be printed out and delivered by prison staff. Each email costs 40p and you need to buy credit to use the service. In some prisons, prisoners can also reply and attach a photo through Email a Prisoner.

Do inmates have access to a computer in prison?

Not all inmates have access to what is essentially a federal program, although the system may be used to contact incarcerated individuals at state prisons in Iowa and Oklahoma. If an inmate has been incarcerated for reasons that involve the use of a computer, they may not have access.

How much does it cost to send messages to an inmate?

While you should not be charged for sending or receiving messages from inmates at federal institutions, as fees are paid by the Inmate Trust Fund and inmate fees, users are charged 25 cents/message to inmates in Iowa, and 30 cents/message to inmates in Oklahoma.
