You can now indicate your interest in the various vocations of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore Police Force (SPF). To help you make an informed decision, we have prepared this handbook to provide some insight into the different vocations of the three uniformed Services.
How do I join SAF SOF?
The recruitment process is open to all members of the Singapore Armed Forces, provided they pass a selection test. Upon passing the test and completing a year of basic training, trainees receive a red beret and become fully inducted into the SOF, in addition to becoming a member of the Commando Formation.
How long is the Commando course in SAF?

Commando Company Training Upon returning to Singapore from Brunei, they mark the completion of their 9-month-long training stint with a 72 kilometer route march, which is composed of a 35 kilometer route march, a simple raid mission, and then the final 35 kilometer route march back to Hendon Camp.

Can you fail BMT?
Yes, it is possible to fail basic training. You could go through the trouble of leaving your home, job, family and friends and come back a failure. In fact, this happens to about 15\% of recruits who join the military every year. Too many recruits I speak to think that it is impossible to fail basic training.

The Army National Guard’s 19th and 20th Special Forces Groups give you the opportunity to be elite in your civilian life and your military life. Members of both units maintain the same certifications and qualifications, complete the same training, and perform the same missions as Active Duty Green Berets.
