Why are Navy uniforms white and blue?

The Navy abolished the use of “grays” in 1949. First authorized in 1852, the flat hat was eliminated in 1963 due to nonavailable materials. A hat worn by officers with ceremonial uniforms, a cocked hat, commonly referred to as a “fore and aft” hat, was worn during the 1700s. It was discontinued in 1940.
It comes in two variants: the Service Dress White (SDW) and Full Dress White (FDW). The SDW is worn when Dinner Dress or Full Dress Uniforms are not prescribed and the civilian clothing equivalent is coat and tie.

Why are Navy masks white?

Historically navy uniforms started out being made of cotton which was white in color. This is the reason for the white uniforms. As a note only white uniform I had when in was the summer dress white uniform. Normal was blue dungarees and blue shirt.
