What makes an effective sermon?

Most people would say they know a good sermon when they hear one. Based on Scripture and my own pastoral experience, I propose that a good sermon is when a man of God, controlled by the Spirit of God, preaches the Word of God, for the glory of God, to transform listeners into the likeness of God.

As a lead pastor I would often ask myself if a sermon I prepared was instead prepared for a particular person to hear. If not…then I would preach it! The problem with this type of Pastor is that the person or person’s to whom the message is directed just end up getting ticked off more.
