What does the DELF exam give you?

The DELF is a certified diploma from France that recognizes your level of language proficiency in French. After you successfully complete the exam, you will receive a certificate awarded by the French Ministry of National Education.

Is DELF a professional qualification?

​DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) are official diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education. There is also a DELF especially targeting the working system: the DELF Pro which is more oriented for professional purposes. ​ ​Within the DELF, there are 4 different levels: A1, A2, B1 and B2.

How good is B1 level French?

What is considered B1 level? Listening: at this level, you can understand and take part in simple conversations about everyday situations (at work, school, leisure, etc.) Reading: your reading is more fluent and you can understand texts about more complex topics but not quite current affairs yet.

Can I pass my Delf A1 exam?

You would likely pass your DELF A1 exam knowing just a fraction of this, but since you can’t know what you will be tested on, you should practise as much as possible. Also, remember that the exam is a means to an end: perfecting your A1 French is the real goal.

What level of proficiency do you need to take Delf?

Usually, some English taught programs might require a student to showcase a minimum of B2 level of proficiency. This, again, would depend and vary from university to university. As already mentioned, DELF is conducted for levels A1 – B2. All four exams, DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, and DELF B2, essentially have the same structure.

What is the Delf B2 exam?

The DELF B2 Exam DELF B2 tests whether the student has a degree of independence that allows them to construct arguments to defend their opinion, explain their viewpoint and negotiate. The candidate is expected to have a degree of fluency and spontaneity in regular interactions and is capable of correcting their own mistakes.

What is the structure of Delf A1 and Delf B2?

All four exams, DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, and DELF B2, essentially have the same structure. The exam is divided into 4 parts of Series recordings of no more than 3 minutes in length are played twice. Candidates are required to answer small questions based on the same. At the B2 level, the pattern is changed.
