Is the soul conscious after death?

The soul of man will never enter into a state of non-existence nor unconsciousness. In Christ’s account of the rich man and Lazarus we have the matter summed up and settled that the soul is conscious after death. Both men died and were buried. Though their bodies were in the graves, each of them was alive and conscious.
