You don’t have to be in the Navy already to join the SEALS, but you do have to be tough. Navy SEAL training takes more than a year, and it’s brutally demanding.
Navy SEAL training takes at least a year and a half from boot camp until joining a SEAL team. Navy SEALs also continue to train throughout their career. Before you go into Navy SEAL training, you’ll want to prep yourself as much as possible.
The Range of Basic Pay For 2018, active duty SEALS officers in training start as Ensigns, the lowest officer rank (O-1), with a salary of $3,035, but by the completion of training or shortly thereafter will usually have a rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade (O-2), with a monthly salary of $3,497.
Can you enlist and go straight to buds?
Many have arranged a deal to re-enlist in the Navy if they can attend BUD/S at the time of the end of their first enlistment. Of course, you still have to meet all of the elevated standards. You can join the Marines, but you have to get out of the Marines and join the Navy to go to BUD/S.
