Can soldiers wear hats indoors?
Soldiers will not wear headgear indoors unless under arms in an official capacity or when directed by the commander, such as for indoor ceremonial activities. Soldiers will carry their headgear, when it is not worn, in their hand while wearing service, dress, and mess uniforms.
Personnel may remove their cap or hat when traveling inside a private automobile or riding a bicycle off base. A cover is mandatory when entering or within a military reservation, unless wearing the cap is impractical or hazardous.
