Can Scott Summers see?

The visor not only keeps Scott’s powerful optic blasts in check but permits other individuals from seeing the true world beneath his protective shield. While Cyclops cannot open his eyes without his visor in fear of putting others in danger, Summers is free to pry his eyes open when they are covered by the visor.

How does Cyclops laser work?

Even Stan Lee, who co-created the character with Jack Kirby in 1963, occasionally depicted Cyclops’ powers incorrectly. How did X-Men Cyclops get his powers?

X-Men #43 breaks down Cyclops’ optical power that his activated X-gene (the gene that results in mutation) grants him. Essentially, Cyclops’ optic blasts come from the power of the sun too, just like Superman. However, it’s just his eyes that take in the energy.

Can Cyclops open his eyes?

He uses his mutant power to break his fall and is injured. His mutant power later manifests randomly when he gets older and after causing an accident and nearly getting mobbed to death, he escapes, blind (powers were sporadic) but eventually he cannot even open his eyes.

Does Cyclops see red?

What we can basically infer is that he can see all colours but tinged in red, as if he was wearing red glasses* (without the visor). So as it stands right now, he can recognise colours enough to distinguish them. *This is different from what Morrison depicted because then Cyclops saw everything in shades of red.

Does Cyclops ever control his power?

He is completely unable to switch his optic blasts off, and their energy can only be restrained by ruby quartz. As a result, Cyclops wears glasses at all times, or – when in costume – a visor. It’s generally believed that Cyclops’ lack of control over his powers is a result of brain damage.
