As long as you hold a licence, you can paddle on any of the 2,200 miles of canals and rivers administered by the Canal & River Trust. An additional licence allows you to paddle on other rivers which are maintained by the Environment Agency, including the non-tidal Thames west of London.

Yes, you can bring your own canoe or kayak to Moraine Lake or any of the lakes or rivers within Banff National Park. There’s no public boat launch at Moraine Lake, you will have to launch from the shore. Parks Canada offers more information here: Paddling in the parks.

Is it better to canoe on Lake Louise or lake Moraine?

Both Lakes are great for canoeing, and they are the same price per hour. Be aware as well that the parking area at Moraine lake is quite limited in the middle of the day (particularly on weekends). If possible, it is best to visit the lake shore either early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid crowds.
