Are tattoos finally going out of style?

Tattoos are not going out of style. As stigma wanes and quality standards improve, tattoos are steadily gaining popularity and social acceptance. Tattoos are also known to be part of various cultures going back over 6,000 years, so it is safe to assume that they will never fully go out of style.

Are tattoos on the decline?

Millennial’s have more tattoos than any generation before them, and the tattoo industry is growing steadily. Every trend eventually reaches its saturation point. Sooner or later, tattoo popularity will either plateau or start to go down. However, for the time being, all we can tell for sure is that it’s growing.

Given the rich history, perhaps it’s not surprising that tattoos have become more and more popular once again. In part, this is because they are being worn by public figures such as celebrities, athletes, and people within the fashion industry.

None of you are old enough to know that tattooing is definitely a trend that will pass. Tattoos were deeply unfashionable in the 60s. Came back in the 70s. Went out of fashion again in the 80s and 90s. And then came back in the 2000s. The problem is they think they’re going to be young, pretty and cool for the rest of their lives.

Is the tattoo craze over?

Tattoos have gone in and out of fashion within various groups for pretty much aslong as they exist. And even the modern tattoo craze, seemingly endless, might just be over tomorrow. Out. Unfashionable. And then you are left with that ironic mermaid on your arm.
