Can candidates use calculators in UPSC Civil Services Exam? Not for UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam. But candidates will be allowed the use of Scientific (Non-Programmable type) Calculators at the conventional (Essay) type examination of UPSC, ie Mains Exam.

Candidates appearing for IAS 2021 should carry any one of the following documents as their photo identity proof to the IAS Exam Center:

  • PAN Card.
  • Voter ID.
  • Aadhar UID.
  • Driving License.

Candidates are advised not to bring any valuables/costly items and bags to the Examination Halls, as safe keeping of the same can not be assured. Candidates to follow Covid 19 norms of ‘social distancing’ as well as ‘personal hygiene’ inside the Examination Halls/Rooms as well as in the premises of the Venue.

The UPSC allows analog watches for candidates. It is advisable to wear one so that you can always be aware of how much time has passed and how much is left. There is no need to depend on the invigilator for it. Please remember smartwatches or digital ones are not allowed.
