Does ethanol clog a carburetor?

Ethanol acts as a solvent in older engines and can dissolve old gum and varnish deposits from the gas tank and fuel lines. These deposits can then clog the very small orifices in the carburetor. They grab oxygen that’s in the gasoline, preventing it from turning into gum and varnish.

Does fuel stabilizer prevent ethanol damage?

Ethanol will cause damage to small engine components, with or without stabilizer. Stabilizer doesn’t significantly add to the life span of gasoline, with or without ethanol. Ethanol-free gasoline does not need stabilizer to prevent corrosion nor to increase its life span.
