How did Nilfgaard defeat Cintra?

Calanthe, the nobles, and all the troops barricaded themselves inside the castle but Nilfgaardian mages quickly destroyed the gate and entered. Calanthe asked someone to finish her off, but nobody had the courage to do it, so she leaped headfirst out of the castle tower and died instantly upon hitting the ground.

Why did Emhyr kill calanthe?

Emhyr was, though his title was Emperor. Calanthe wasn’t killed, she committed suicide because she didn’t want to be captured. Emperor Emhyr attacked Cintra in the first place because he wanted to conquer the Northern Realms, not because he specifically wanted to harm Calanthe.

What caused the fall of Cintra?

Emhyr or Duny made plans to retake the throne of Nilfgaard and conspired with Vilgefortz. Unfortunately as a direct results of this, his wife Pavetta of Cintra was killed. His daughter Ciri now orphaned was left behind in Cintra. So he let her down.

Is Cintra part of Nilfgaard?

Cintra was a very powerful kingdom in the times of Queen Calanthe, but was conquered by Nilfgaard during the First Nilfgaard War. Cintra’s neighbors are Sodden, Brugge, and the Nilfgaard province of Nazair.

Does Nilfgaard fall?

However by the end of the season, Nilfgaard suffers a great defeat at the Battle of Sodden hill, effectively setting the stage for the Second Northern War to begin.

Why was Cintra attacked?

He had started his expansion by conquering the northern realms. He specifically targeted Cintra as that was where his daughter was and he wanted to take her away with him back to Nilfgaard as heir to his throne.
